Antique vanderman trunk or strong box description: this is an "as found" antique strong box or trunk made by the vanderman mfg. Co of williamantic conn., circa 1900. This type of box or trunk was originally for heavy tools, but because of its strength and strong construction, was used to transport valuables of the day for companies like wells fargo and the railroads. This strong box is in good condition with normal wear to the oak staves. It does have two holes in the bottom where it was probably mounted to something to protect it from being removed.
